As Project Manager in charge of:
Prefabrication, delivery and coordination with the construction site for the installation of the process steel structures for the whole plant (melting furnace, tin bath)
.Prefabrication and delivery of piping facilities for the process utilities. Batch charger. All warehouse, furnace and tin bath ventilation ancillaries equipment supply.

Objective of the work: CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW “TURN-KEY” BASE FLOAT OF £%= TPD CAPACITY

  • Prefabrication, delivery and installation of the furnace and float structures
  • Project, construction, installation and commissioning of the furnace and float equipment

1990 – 1991 GLACERIES ST. ROCH – LINE G. / SAMBREVILLE – BELGIUM

OBJECTIVE of WORK : COLD REPAIR OF SOME SECTIONS OF THE EXISTING FLOAT LINE (600 TPD)
As Project Manager in charge of:
refurbishment and improvement of the existing batch charger.  Calculation of the conduits, complete redevelopment and improvement of the ventilation system for the furnace and float area including fans with variable speed drivers , relative adaptation of the electrical system. Design, delivery and installation of the float accessories.

1991 CO.MA.SE

Objective of the work: CONSTRUCTION OF THE MAIN PARTS OF A PRODUCTION LINE OF MIRRORS in the production plant of FONTANA, Florence

Project Manager in charge of: engineering, delivery, installation and supervision of the glass loading/unloading system for the silver plating conveyor.  Engineering, delivery, installation and commissioning of a thermal oxidizer for the elimination of pollutants produced by the silver plating conveyor.  Coordination between the parties involved in the project.

1991 CO.MA.SE -  ITALY

Objective of the work: TRANSFER OF THE PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT FROM ONE FACTORY TO ANOTHER OF THE FONTANA GROUP, FOLLOWED BY REORGANISATION AND PRODUCTION OPTIMISATION, IMPROVEMENT AND ADAPTATION OF THE TWO PRODUCTION UNITS (NUOVA BOSISIO AND FONTANA GLASS) FOR THE PRODUCTION OF INSULATING GLASS AND SAFETY GLASS.

Project Manager in charge of the entire project.  The Project included the transfer of a complete production line of laminate including transfer of the autoclave and  adaptation of the civil works and services in the new location. Development, prefabrication, delivery, installation and commissioning of the lines in the two factories.  Development, delivery, installation and commissioning of an automatic robot for glass storage. General maintenance of the various equipment.

No important accidents on both sites.

1994 MULIA GLASS – JAKARTA – INDONESIA

Objective of the work: CONSTRUCTION OF A SET OF (5) LINEAR MOTORS WITH 12 POLES
Project Manager in charge of the entire project for construction, delivery and installation.

1995- 1996 POLFLOAT– STRZEMIESZCYE – POLAND

Objective of the work: CREATION OF A “TURN-KEY” PROJECT OF A RAW MATERIAL DISCHARGE FROM RAILWAY COMPARTMENTS; SAND STORAGE; STORAGE OF WASTE AND BATCH PLANTS (700 TPD) INCLUDING CIVIL WORKS; STRUCTURES; EQUIPMENT; AUTOMATION, ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION, UTILITIES, SERVICES AND HEATING SYSTEM.

Project Manager in charge of the entire project for construction, delivery, installation and commissioning of:

  • Building without railway compartments (approx. 80×9×6 m. )
  • Sand Park (approx. 114×31×25 m with an asymmetrical shape) fitted with a scratching machine
  • Scrap Park (approx. 48×24×15 m) equipped with bridge crane with an operator
  • Batch Plant (38×12×32 m.) including all process equipment and automation (DCS system with a specific control room)
  • All tunnels of the conveyor belts and corner towers
  • Pneumatic unloading system with relevant service structure

1996 – 1997 VIDRIO SAINT GOBAIN de MEXICO – MEXICO

Objective of the Work: COORDINATOR AND GENERAL TECHNICIAN OF ALL PROJECT AND ENGINEERING ACTIVITIES (structural, piping, electric, automation, process) FOR THE ENTIRE PROJECT INCLUDING INTERFACE WITH THE CIVIL WORKS CREATED BY OTHERS

1997 – 1999 VIDRIO ANDINO S.A. – BOGOTA’ – COLUMBIA

Objective of the Work: TURN-KEY FLOAT PLANT: (400 TPD)

In charge of civil works for the entire plant excluding the process line. The objective of works included:

  • Definition of the layout for the entire project
  • Participation in the team for the selection of land and preliminary studies of land
  • Geological studies and definition of geotechnical activities
  • Projects of all of the buildings including various utilities and services (HFO and LPG tanks, pump rooms, electrical utilities, compressor rooms etc)
  • Definition and design of administrative offices
  • Chimney
  • Management of all European and Columbian external resources taking part in the project
  • Market survey, qualification of suppliers and creation of the vendor list
  • Preparation of documents for requests for offers and their comparison
  • Contract managers for different contracts
  • Project, coordination and execution of all temporary and final infrastructures.
  • Project and coordination of all temporary and final services (lighting, sewages, drainges etc)

The project was cancelled in 1999 just a few days before the opening of the construction site

1999- 2000 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS UK LTD. – EGGBOROUGH – NORTH YORKSHIRE –U.K.
OBJECTIVE OF WORK: FLOAT PLANT (600 TPD) ON “TURN KEY” BASIS
As Deputy Project Manager and Site manager with full responsibility of construction, team co-ordination and management for the construction of the new line.

Working site for construction activities: Eggbourough – United Kingdom
I joined the project team in 1999 when the site activities had already started four months before and had already accumulated two months delay. The project was completed with two weeks delay compared with the agreed completion date.

2000 –2002 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS DEUTSCHLAND GmbH Aachen – Germany

OBJECTIVE OF WORK: COLD REPAIR and CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT of a FLOAT PLANT (700 TPD) in Stolberg.
As Deputy Project Manager and Site manager with responsibility for construction, team co-ordination and planning.
Consultancy activity on H&S, H&S Co-ordination.

Working site for construction activities: Stolberg – Germany. The project was completed on-time.

2002 – 2003 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS SOLARCONTROL S.L. MADRID – SPAIN

OBJECTIVE OF WORK: Project Manager of a “Greenfield” project for the construction of a new factory in Las Almunia de Dona Godina (Zaragoza) for flat glass processing downstream activities.

Total project length: 15 months
Working site : Madrid – Spain & La Almunia de Dona Godina (Zaragoza – Spain)
The objective of work included:

  • closing of an existing facility in Madrid
  • transfer, maintenance and improvement of some equipment for the new facility in Zaragoza to be classified as “Greenfield”
  • Simultaneous management of both projects. We made the area in Madrid free for the new owners within the scheduled time
  • layout definition for the new facility in Zaragoza
  • Design coordination for civil work and infrastructures.
  • Construction of the new factory including building all necessary infrastructures
  • Coating line relocation from the existing factory in Madrid with relative maintenance and an increase in production capacity
  • New glass handling system with regards to loading and unloading
  • Restructuring, adaptation and modernization of the tempering furnace and relative relocation.
  • Installation of an Automatic rack system and automatic loading
  • Other transformation activities (laminated glass line relocation, cutting, grinding, new beveling, drilling etc) relocation and upgrading, maintenance.
    The project was completed on time.

2003 – 2004 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS FRANCE

OBJECTIVE OF WORK: Project Manager for the reconstruction and improvement of an existing plant with Chinese technology.

Total project length: 9 months
Working site : Qingdao – P.R. of China
The objective of work includes:
the complete revamping of the existing line. The shut down was scheduled for August 28th, 2004 and the heating was completed on 4th February 2005. The operation included the complete demolition of the existing line and the recovery of some parts, together with the construction of a new furnace and float including the demolition and reconstruction of the foundations and the creation of a water tight furnace basement with an access ramp, maintenance of the existing annealing lehr tunnel, a new cutting line for the car glass, maintenance and adaptation of the existing plant, important modifications to external services and their adaptation according to new specifications.

The project was completed according to SGG technology for the production of glass for automotive and civil building. The project was completed on time.

1 TF3 accident was registered, whose causes were not attributable directly to the project.

2004 – 2006 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS FRANCE
OBJECTIVE OF WORK: Project Manager for the addition of electrical boosting, furnace homogenization units, addition of a second outlet to the cutting line for the production of DLF, addition of generators etc.

The objective of work included: civil works. The addition of homogenization equipment to the Furnace, improvements to the cutting line.  The addition of gensets. The replacement of annealing lehr rollers into the furnace.  Electrical boosting.  Zinc Citrate treatment

2006 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS FRANCE

Objective of the Work: PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION WITH A CHINESE SUPPLIER OF 14 GROUND LEVEL TOP ROLLS OF THE “A” TYPE DESTINED FOR LINE 2 IN MEXICO, AND SUPERVISION OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A  BATCH CHARGER AND INVERSION VALVES WITH CHINESE SUPPLIERS.

The objective of the work included: Development, prefabrication and commissioning.

2006 – 2008 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS FRANCE

Objective of the Work: PROJECT MANAGER FOR LINE 2 IN DABROWA GORNICZA (PL)
The objective of the work included: a “turn-key” plant with a capacity of 650 TPD, movement and adaptation of all existing utilities, new MV power supply.  The line was fitted with an electrical boosting, installation of an ESP, extension of the warehouse (+14,000 sqm) and the installation of an automatic line for the off-line cutting of 1,200 sqm of glass per hour. The line was built in 11 months starting from when the first foundations were laid. The plant was also fitted with an internal railway line in order to transport the raw materials to the batch plant.

The project was completed according to schedule (not even one day late) and without accidents.  Strict respect of the schedule allowed the Client to take advantage of EC financial support.  Start-up has been issues free.

2008-2009 SAINT GOBAIN GLASS CRISTALERIA
OBJECTIVE OF WORK: Project Manager for the construction of a new line of 280 TPD for the production of Solar glass and decorative glass within an existing factory. The line is expected to have a high automation level.

Heating is scheduled for 2010 .

The objective of work includes: enhancement of the existing batch plant with addition of new silos for cullet and soda, new cullet return system and addition of water break.
A new line with new furnace, two new feeders, new annealing lehrs purchased in LCC, a new cutting line equipped with  robots (3+1 in the future) for glass stacking.  New utilities with an increase in the capacity of the existing utilities. Modification and adaptation of the existing buildings to the new line (the works consists of the stabilization of the building through micro piles and side fixings as a consequence of  high water pressure, modification to the supporting structures of the roof in order to avoid collisions during the assembly operations).  Refurbishment of the existing forming machines and modification in order to fulfill the new requirements.
The project is currently within the budget.

No accidents.
